Because of the pandemic, teachers who play the key role in this effort are now facing burnout at work as the Philippine education system moves into its new standard.

Tasks such as the printing and scheduling of self-learning guides, connecting with group relations, preparing to open lessons, and hosting several webinars from here and there are items that add fatigue to teachers who return to their respective schools and often threaten their wellbeing.

The Coalition of Teachers Involved (ACT) advised the Department of Education to take these concerns into account and issue a clear set of recommendations on work scheduling and to reduce the workload of teachers in order to prevent burnout.

Exhausted teachers are unable to perform their tasks adequately, which might hinder the success of their retention strategy for learning.
