At this stage in the pandemic, the Department of Education is now advocating to provide the monthly internet allowance for teaching and non-teaching staff as support for the implementation of the learning continuity strategy of the department.
DepEd Under-Secretary for Finance Annalyn Sevilla urged the House of Representatives on Tuesday to accept this provision so that teachers can more effectively adopt blended learning,
Sevilla said, “We only comply with anything that would be allowed as an allowance kasi meron din batas dito kagaya ng Salary Standardization Law na in-enumerate kung ano lang ang legitimate allowances.”
Sevilla said the proposed monthly teachers’ internet allowance would be from P350 to P50. But they will still need to have a consultation on the subject.
“For now, the DBM authorisation ang inuuna namin humingi ng and the COA policy kasi ang na ganito ay kailangan mag-emanate from them,” Seville added.
